The Centro Culturale Italiano di Buffalo is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote Italian culture in the Western New York area. The Center will be a place where Italians, Italian-Americans, and individuals with an interest in Italian culture may meet and interact.
The primary goal of the Center is to provide Italian lessons
so as to preserve the Italian language in Western New York. Focusing on families and children, additional goals are to promote Italian culture and traditions such as La Befana, Carnevale, and the St. Joseph’s Table.
The Center will include a library of Italian books, magazines, newspapers, and films as a resource for the community. Live video from RAI International will be available as well as Italian radio. Other planned activities include cooking classes, televised sporting events, guest speakers, and presentations.
The Centro Culturale Italiano di Buffalo will also serve as a resource for exchange students to and from Italy and for individuals who travel to Italy for business or pleasure.
Plans are also underway to establish an Italian Heritage Center
so that many of the untold stories of local Italian immigrant families may be preserved. Resources will also be available to assist Italian-Americans to research their ancestry.
